How I became an online personal trainer
It was never my intention at all to become an online personal trainer. It came naturally and itself.
I just started responding to people’s questions and tried to solve their problems.
We all live in the digital era, and we are lucky that we can connect with people on the other side of the world so effortlessly.
It allows me to create a much more significant impact and help more people to change their lifestyles for the better.
Story how I met one of my first online clients on the plane.
It was July, and I was flying from Zurich to Mumbai. It was an overnight flight. Time in Zurich was hectic, so I was hoping to watch some movies and sleep on the plane.
Lady sitting next to me and was reading the newspaper. Stewardess served food which I politely refused to eat. I rarely eat food during the flight.
We started talking about nutrition and exercising.
Lady was struggling with increased B.M.I for a long time. After asking her a few questions, I discovered problems hidden in her lifestyle and nutrition.
Cutting the story short, Lady happened to be very ambitious and dedicated. She successfully changed her lifestyle, lost weight, and improved health.
Since then, I have worked with many people online, but by giving this example, I just wanted to show how wonderfully we can attract the right people at the right time and place.
What should you expect from an online personal trainer?
The trainer should understand your needs and create a plan to achieve your realistic goals.
At least I expect it all from myself when it comes to coaching my clients.
Everyone is different and requires a different approach. Some of my clients are busy moms, stressed entrepreneurs, politicians, or graphic designers. That’s why a tailored training plan is crucial for success.
You can’t just copy someone else’s program and wait for progress.
Proper assessment is the foundation of your plan. You need to set realistic goals to achieve them.
If you’re having two jobs, taking care of family, learning Spanish lessons and want to train for an Iron Man, then ask yourself. Do you have time for it?
You need to be honest with yourself. Maybe your goal is to start valuing the time more. Spending less time at work and saying” no” to friends who want to binge with you on fast foods and ”yes” to friends who encourage to play with them tennis during the weekend?
Whatever it is you need to know it. Know your pace and possibilities.
Whatever result it is. Whether it’s weight loss, fat loss, muscles gain or running 5 k under 30 minutes.
Your real goal is the commitment and execution of small daily steps and actions.
Small, daily steps stack up and create significant results over time. If you can stick to the plan and execute honestly – you’ll achieve your goal. I can guarantee it to you.
The most challenging part with execution is that you need to do different things that you used to do.
You can’t expect results if you repeat over and over the same mistakes.
How does online personal training work?
We can close it in 3 letters: A.P.E
A – Assessment
P – Plan
E – Execution
It is always a start point. Analysis of your strengths, weaknesses, possibilities, access, gender, age, training history, allergies, intolerances, and injuries. Based on that, we can create a plan.
It should be tailored and designed specifically for you. It should include nutrition protocol and weekly training/activity routine.
Execution is pure cooperation. Your reporting and my reaction. Sending pictures of food, reporting workouts, describing physical and emotional states, and chatting about it. These are a day to day activities included in cooperation leading to success.
How long is my online course?
I only work with a person for eight weeks. It’s enough to change habits, create a difference, and stay focused.
I also find that eight weeks is the right time that people can dedicate to a transformation.
After completing the 8-week course, you should be armed with practical knowledge to control your diet, plan your training sessions accordingly, come back to routine after vacation, avoid overeating and overtraining.
3 phases during the 8-week program:
During the first week, we need to asses and create the plan. I usually require a report from 2-3 days of eating, which means you need to send me pictures of everything which you eat. I need to get to know your lifestyle to give you the right advice.
2nd week to 4th week
Nutrition is at the place. You follow the plan, execute workouts. Hopefully, you’ve achieved already satisfying results that motivated you to stay on track.
4th week to 8th week
It is the time where you need to persist. To create new habits, you need to keep doing what you have started. You already know that it works for you, so now you need to find the way how to stick to it and permanently change your lifestyle.
After eight weeks of hard work, you transformed your habits, and most probably you look different and feel the difference as well.
